Abel Garcia

"Hola! I'm Abel García and I'm the fourth youngest brother of 11 children. I'm the only one who works in handicrafts, and I've always loved arts and crafts. At first, I had a shop where I sold other people's work. But these artisans taught me to create my own designs. Today I craft lamps from the tulle rushes that grow on the shores of lakes. I also create masks and paint decorative ceramic pieces.

"I think Mexico is so rich in handicrafts that everyone should learn about them and appreciate the things we make here. I'd love for my designs to be better known and I'm grateful to Novica for this opportunity.

"My dream for the future is to show my creations to the whole world and I'm happy that I've been able to exhibit my designs. Some have been featured in videos about Mexican regional art."
