Prince Amartey's works display balanced qualities of antiquity, aesthetics and pure finesse.
Prince Amartey is a talented carver. Although relatively young - born in July of 1974 - his creations bear the stamp of an experienced master sculptor. His works display balanced qualities of antiquity, aesthetics, and pure finesse. When he left Aburi Secondary Technical School in 1996 he had studied Home Economics. Amartey wanted to live a determined, well-purposed life that largely depended on himself. He considered carving as a career opportunity, drawing on amateur experiences borne of talent and the hard work of his school years. After receiving professional instruction in the secrets of wood sculpting, his skills developed quite naturally. In 1997 he ventured out on his own, quickly earning a sizeable customer base due to the superb quality of his horror masks, profiles, shadow figures, and other pieces. He works primarily with sese wood, a medium of immense durability and intrinsic beauty.
